Chamber Salutes Cong. Kosmas On Health Care Vote
Cong. Suzanne Kosmas (D-New Smyrna Beach) is receiving praise for her vote against the massive overhaul of America’s health care system which has narrowly passed the U.S. House of Representatives. “We commend her for standing tall in the face of enormous pressures from her party’s leadership to support this legislation,” said Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce Vice President for Public Policy Mike Ketchum. He added, “She not only listened to the concerns of our business community but fully honored her commitment to oppose health care reform legislation which increases the federal deficit or did not bend the cost curve down.”

Chamber Joins U.S. Chamber In Opposition to Flawed Health Care Reform Legislation
The Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce has joined Chambers of Commerce and business organizations from throughout America in expressing its strong opposition to H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act which squeaked narrowly through the U.S. House of Representatives last Saturday night on a 220-215 vote. In signing on to a letter presented to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) last week, the Chamber stated the legislation “falls short of the bipartisan goal of controlling health care costs and jeopardizes employer-sponsored coverage serving more than 160 million Americans and does not “achieve meaningful, long-term control of U. S. health care costs.”
