Since the successful passage of the Statewide Rail Transit Legislation, there’s been real excitement generated across the state regarding High Speed Rail for Florida. Now it’s time to turn our attention to Washington, D.C., and support our Congressional Delegation, helping them in their efforts to secure Federal Dollars to advance this effort.
The Central Florida Partnership, working with others, will host a “Press Conference,” with U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., in the Board Room of METROPLAN ORLANDO, located at 315 East Robinson Street, Suite 355, in Downtown Orlando.
Joining Senator Nelson will be Ed Turanchik, President of Connect Us, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Richard T. Crotty; along with other elected and appointed officials from across the Central Florida Region. Business and community leaders are encouraged to be in attendance to show their support of this important effort regarding the future of our community and the future of our state.
When it comes to High Speed Rail for Florida and how we can advance the Vision for High Speed Rail in America, the Central Florida Partnership is “ready, willing, and able” to help coordinate this regional effort with a goal of mobilizing tens of thousands of Floridians around a “fast-paced-statewide-grassroots-marketing-campaign.” The participation and support of the business community is crucial.
During this “Press Conference,” Mr. Turanchik will update Central Florida Leaders about the “40 Day Marketing Campaign,” designed to support High Speed Rail for Florida, and we will learn firsthand of the strong support and encouragement being provided by Senator Nelson. Together, they will be sharing their plans and listening carefully to ideas about how we can work together to successfully advance this matter for the State of Florida.
